1st XI Cricket

On Friday it was wonderful to see the OA’s and current College boys competing on Lower. There was great energy from all the players and a real hunger for the game of cricket. College won the toss, and even though it looked like one could bowl first the batsman we so eager to feel bat on ball. The top 4 batsman, Mathew Schaefer, James Mullins, Sam Francis and Nicholas Barlow put in a solid performance compiling a very competitive 162/3 in their 20 overs. Grant Stretton, supported by Murray Leith tried their very best to stem the flow of runs, but the College batsman were equal to the task.

The OA’s were up for the run chase, but the College bowlers attacked the stumps giving the opposition little room to free up their arms. Regular wickets made it tough for the OA’s. Pace men Liyama Dotwana and Dale Brody were in fine form, supported by Malcolm Macgregor’s crafty off spin and some good catching secured College the win.

A special thanks to the OA’s for their commitment to the fixture and we trust they had another quality day of cricket at Salem CC on the Saturday.
