Match Report
St Andrew's College Boys-U14A vs  Grey High School
On: Friday, 05 Apr 2019
Venue: Away

The Grey vs College derby day is always a tightly contested match at u14 level, and this year was no different. College started the game well by putting the Grey midfield under pressure, with Matthew Beamish and Ross Gordon controlling the game from the midfield. This forced the Grey side to make mistakes in which the College side capitalized on. This pressure created chances, where some outstanding interplay between Mark Ter Mousheizen and Orange Khayi saw them both find the back of the net in the first half, putting College 2-0 up at half time. Hockey, however, is a game of two halves, where the second half saw Grey put the College side under pressure after realizing their mistakes. A lapse in concentration saw the College side let in 2 easy goals, putting the score at 2-2. The College boys rallied, giving it all they had. Chances were crated on either end, but the Grey side capitalized on a circle entry, netting in a final goal in the last couple of minutes of the game. One final burst of energy saw the College side giving it everything they had, but unfortunately it was too little too late. The side lost 2-3 to a quality Grey side but hats off must go to the College boys for playing until the last minute and not giving up. Superb stuff by both sides in an ever-exciting Grey vs St Andrew’s fixture.
